Unlock Your Lucky 9 Fortune: 7 Proven Ways to Boost Your Winning Chances

The rain was coming down in sheets that night, the kind of downpour that makes you question every life decision that led you to standing outside a heavily guarded corporate facility at 2 AM. I remember pressing my back against the cold concrete wall, watching the security patrol patterns through the downpour, thinking about how much this reminded me of playing Outlaws. You know that feeling when you're trying to sneak through an enemy base without triggering alarms? That was my reality right then, except the stakes were my actual career rather than some game score.

See, I'd been brought in as a security consultant to test this company's new "impenetrable" system, and let me tell you, the parallels between my real-world infiltration and Kay's stealth encounters in Outlaws were downright uncanny. Just like Kay directing Nix to distract guards, I had my own toolkit of distractions - carefully timed network pings that would draw the night shift's attention to phantom system alerts while I slipped through their physical security gaps. The main crux of Outlaws gameplay, however, is stealth encounters, and that night taught me that the same principle applies to fortune itself - whether in games or life, success often comes from moving unseen until the perfect moment to strike.

I've always been fascinated by how gaming strategies translate to real-world success, particularly when it comes to what I call "lucky breaks." Over my fifteen years in security consulting, I've identified seven reliable methods that consistently boost what appears to be luck. That night in the rain, I employed all seven without even realizing it, moving through the facility with the same calculated precision Kay uses when she navigates through grass to hide and whistle from to attract the hapless guards. There's something profoundly satisfying about watching patterns unfold before you, whether you're playing Assassin's Creed or executing a real-world penetration test.

The third guard station presented the biggest challenge - three monitors, two guards chatting about football, and a camera sweeping every eight seconds. This was where I needed to unlock my Lucky 9 fortune, that perfect alignment of preparation and opportunity. Just like Kay crawling through air ducts to bypass security, I'd mapped the ventilation system weeks earlier during my "friendly" daytime tour. I counted the camera's rhythm, waited for the guards' laughter to peak, and slipped into the ceiling access panel. The timing had to be perfect - 2.3 seconds between the camera's sweep and the guards' distracted moment. Getting this right increased my success probability by nearly 47%, or at least that's what my post-operation calculations suggested.

What most people don't understand about "luck" is that it's rarely random. When Kay uses takedowns or the stun setting on her blaster to silently knock out enemies, she's not hoping for luck - she's creating conditions for success. That night, I created my own lucky conditions through preparation. I'd studied shift changes for three weeks, knew that security took 17-minute coffee breaks at 2:15 AM, and had identified exactly 9 blind spots in their camera coverage. The number 9 became my lucky charm - 9 blind spots, 9 minutes to reach the server room, 9 seconds to bypass the final biometric lock.

The gameplay is fine in theory, but real-world application requires adaptation. While Kay can direct Nix to create distractions, I had to improvise with what was available - a well-timed fire drill simulation that cleared the west corridor for exactly four minutes. Those four minutes gave me access to the primary server room, where I planted my tracking devices and collected the evidence my client needed. Walking out felt exactly like completing a perfect stealth mission - that mix of adrenaline and satisfaction that comes from executing a plan flawlessly.

Looking back, I realize that unlocking your Lucky 9 fortune isn't about waiting for opportunity to knock - it's about knowing which doors to open and having the right keys ready. The seven methods I've developed over the years have increased my successful infiltration rate from 68% to 94%, and while some might call that skill, I've come to see it as manufactured luck. Just like in Outlaws, where the difference between success and failure often comes down to patience and observation rather than brute force, real-world fortune favors those who understand the systems they're navigating. That rainy night mission didn't just prove my client's security vulnerabilities - it reinforced everything I believe about creating your own luck through preparation, timing, and understanding the patterns others miss.

We are shifting fundamentally from historically being a take, make and dispose organisation to an avoid, reduce, reuse, and recycle organisation whilst regenerating to reduce our environmental impact.  We see significant potential in this space for our operations and for our industry, not only to reduce waste and improve resource use efficiency, but to transform our view of the finite resources in our care.

Looking to the Future

By 2022, we will establish a pilot for circularity at our Goonoo feedlot that builds on our current initiatives in water, manure and local sourcing.  We will extend these initiatives to reach our full circularity potential at Goonoo feedlot and then draw on this pilot to light a pathway to integrating circularity across our supply chain.

The quality of our product and ongoing health of our business is intrinsically linked to healthy and functioning ecosystems.  We recognise our potential to play our part in reversing the decline in biodiversity, building soil health and protecting key ecosystems in our care.  This theme extends on the core initiatives and practices already embedded in our business including our sustainable stocking strategy and our long-standing best practice Rangelands Management program, to a more a holistic approach to our landscape.

We are the custodians of a significant natural asset that extends across 6.4 million hectares in some of the most remote parts of Australia.  Building a strong foundation of condition assessment will be fundamental to mapping out a successful pathway to improving the health of the landscape and to drive growth in the value of our Natural Capital.

Our Commitment

We will work with Accounting for Nature to develop a scientifically robust and certifiable framework to measure and report on the condition of natural capital, including biodiversity, across AACo’s assets by 2023.  We will apply that framework to baseline priority assets by 2024.

Looking to the Future

By 2030 we will improve landscape and soil health by increasing the percentage of our estate achieving greater than 50% persistent groundcover with regional targets of:

– Savannah and Tropics – 90% of land achieving >50% cover

– Sub-tropics – 80% of land achieving >50% perennial cover

– Grasslands – 80% of land achieving >50% cover

– Desert country – 60% of land achieving >50% cover
